Equestrian firms feature in latest ‘by appointments’ list under King and Queen’s reign.
Country clothing brands favoured by equestrians are likely to be highlighted when the Princess of Wales grants royal warrants for the first time.
The move is considered historic as the former title holder, Princess Diana, did not fulfil a similar role.
The current Princess of Wales is regularly seen wearing Holland Cooper, Dubarry, Barbour (already a Warrant holder by appointment to the King), LeChameau and Fairfax & Favor.
While royal warrants have traditionally boosted British businesses and exports, there’s no requirement for a company to be UK owned or based to be granted one.
Nor do warrant-holding firms provide their goods or services free to the royal households. All transactions are conducted on a strictly commercial basis.
King and Queen’s appointments
In May and December 2024, King Charles and Queen Camilla granted the first two sets of Royal Warrants of Appointment of the new reign.
Grants were made in May to companies drawn from those previously holding a Royal Warrant of Appointment to Queen Elizabeth II, plus businesses with an established and ongoing trading relationship with Queen Camilla.
Last month’s grants went to companies drawn from those previously holding a Royal Warrant of Appointment to the King when he was Prince of Wales.
Royal warrants are issued for up to five years and enable companies to use the royal arms in association with their work.
Changes brought in by the King mean suppliers now need to meet environmental sustainability requirements.
