Trading opportunities disappear as the show circuit continues to be decimated by Covid-19.

Blair Castle International Horse Trials, which was due to run on 27 – 30 August, has been cancelled.

The event in the Scottish Highlands, which usually attracts around 45,000 visitors over its four days, would have been just a week ahead of Burghley (2 – 6 September).

Burghley is still ‘on’, although its box office opening dates have been pushed back to 16 June (for members) and 17 June (for general tickets).

Acknowledging that Blair Castle is “an incredibly important event for the Scottish equestrian community and the local economy,” the organisers said they have had to prioritise the health and safety of everyone involved.

“We explored other ways to keep various competition elements, but it is important to us to host an inclusive event and it didn’t feel right to have Blair Castle without our spectators and trade exhibitors in attendance,” they said in a statement.

Blair Castle 2021 is scheduled for 26 – 29 August.
