Good news for Scottish competitors, while showing makes progress.
Equestrian competition and coaching have got the go-ahead to resume in Scotland.
The permitted outdoor, non-contact activity is subject to Scottish government guidance.
HorseScotland has produced equestrian specific advice, and sports can now formulate their plans to get competitions up-and-running.
Broadly, no spectators are allowed. Adults must remain within ‘bubbles’ of no more than 15 people.
Coaches may instruct as many households each day as they wish.
Wales allows indoor shows
Indoor sport facilities were allowed to open from Monday (11 August) in Wales. Participants are limited to a maximum of 30 at a time.
Venues are advised by British Equestrian to check plans with their insurers before resuming fixtures.
Blueprint for showing
Showing faces the problem of having all entries in the ring to be judged together.
Overcoming this tradition is the main focus of a blueprint for resumption released by The Showing Council – an amalgamation of the main showing bodies - in consultation with Sport England and British Equestrian.
Showing Council chairman David Ingle said “It shows what can be achieved when organisations pull together and show a united front.”
