Business set up with £800 savings in line for national award.

Saddle fitter and retailer Jade Holly Smith has been shortlisted for the New Entrepreneur of the Year award at the 2020 Lloyds Bank National Business Awards.

Jade set up Peterborough based The Saddle Bank less than four years ago. She used £800 of personal savings to buy some second-hand saddles on eBay.

Her online business now has customers in North America, Australia, Asia and the Middle East as well as the UK and Europe.

Previous winners of the award are fitness sensation Joe Wicks, Timpson CEO James Timpson OBE, DPD UK, Hotel Chocolat and online fast fashion brand Missguided.

“It’s amazing to get recognised for the relentless hard work and dedication that goes into growing a business,” she said. “It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.”

The awards ceremony takes place on 10 November.
