Equestrian showpiece falls victim to ongoing pandemic.
Equitana, the consumer show scheduled for 13 – 21 March in Essen, Germany, has been called off due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Cancelling was “not easy for us,” said Benedikt Binder-Krieglstein, CEO of organiser Reed Exhibitions Deutschland.
“However, our decision has now provided planning certainty for all participants.”
Equitana is held in Germany every two years, with approximately 850 exhibitors from 30 nations and more than 200,000 visitors.
Running a slimmed-down version of Equitana was “unthinkable” according to event director Christina Uetz. However, it’s understood that discussions are underway to salvage something of the show.
"We are doing everything we can to offer a good alternative in a timely manner,” said Christina.
Equitana organisers are due to issue an update on their plans for 2021 soon.
