Organisers have online plans to support regular trade exhibitors.

Badminton Horse Trials is to run ‘behind closed doors’ next year (5 – 9 May, 2021).

Organisers say that while there is “the potential to include a limited number of spectators” should Covid-19 restrictions allow, there “won’t be any trade stands”.

Instead, an online Badminton shopping village is planned in the run up to Christmas.

“And if possible,” added a spokesman, “we will look at options leading up to the event to work with our loyal trade stands to help them boost trade.

ETN asked about provision of tack spares and other essentials to Badminton competitors in the main event and grass roots competition held on the Wednesday.

“I’m sure we will offer a limited service to the competitors and that will be decided much nearer the time,” said the spokesman.

Under review

Preparations for Badminton will remain “under constant review” say organisers. Eventing fans can look forward to live stream coverage.

Added event director Jane Tuckwell: “We realise that this is not the scenario everyone would wish for, but feel by announcing our intentions now it will give all involved in whatever capacity the opportunity to plan accordingly.”
