Initiative backed by brands and retailers across the UK.
The major horse feed brands, alongside suppliers of feeding equipment from scoops to haynets, are getting behind the autumn edition of Feed Fact Fortnight.
Retailers and feed merchants across the UK are also on board, giving advice and running promotions and competitions in-store and online.
The social media campaign is organised by the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA), supported by dozens of member companies.
The initiative aims to dispel feeding myths and improve horse owners’ knowledge of equine nutrition. It’s proving popular as consumers review their horses’ diets ahead of the winter season.
BETA’s executive director Claire Williams has presented four live interviews with nutritionists from Pure, Dengie, NAF and independent feed advisor Catherine Rudenko on balanced diets, the role of supplements and importance of fibre in ensuring horses are fed appropriately.
“BETA is dedicated to equine welfare and this BETA Feed Fact Fortnight is aiming to help consumers access sound nutritional advice,” says Claire.
“By focusing on good feeding practice and separating fact from fiction, we can help horse owners make more informed choices when it comes to buying feed and supplements.”
Feed Fact Fortnight runs until 3 November with the final live video on 31 October. All sessions can be rewatched on BETA’s social media channels.
