The winners of Spoga horse awards were announced during the trade fair held in Cologne, Germany on 1 – 3 September.

Awards in sustainability/corporate social responsibility (CSR) and innovation were judged by a panel of experts, with visitor voting also counting towards the results.

The 2019 spoga horse awards were presented for the 19th time by the trade fair venue Koelnmesse in cooperation with media partner equitrends.

First place in the sustainability/CSR category went to GT Concept for its cork saddle.

The fact that it’s produced in Europe from a re-growing raw material appealed to the judges. They also commended the saddle’s light weight and stylish design – but added that they would like to see how durable the cork actually is in regular use.

Second place went to Freejump Systems for its vegan jodhpur boots and chaps. Sustainable raw materials and attractiveness again convinced the judging panel of their merits.

In the innovation category, Albert Kerbl took the top award for its Goleygo. The magnetic closure system, which opens safely even under tension, was demonstrated on a lead rope attachment.

Runner-up was HKM’s Comfort Temperature Riding Jacket. Equipped with an integrated power bank and heated elements, it keeps the rider’s kidney area warm for up to four hours.
