Equestrian brand launches masks in leather and technical sports fabrics.

First Thought Equine, parent company of WOW Saddles, has introduced a collection of face masks.

WOW Masks comes in a choice of leather, synthetic suede or technical sports fabrics.

All styles incorporate reusable, washable filters.

The barrier masks conform to AFNOR S76-001, a level of filtering designed to be used alongside protective measures and social distancing.

They are intended for general use, say at a livery yard or when shopping, and not for health workers.

“We felt we could produce fashionable and attractive barrier face masks for the general public using our existing manufacturing equipment and materials,” said David Kempsell, managing director of WOW Saddles.

“With saddle sales slowed and a sudden demand for face masks, we saw an opportunity to pivot; keeping our team of highly-trained craftsmen employed whilst fulfilling a market need.”

WOW’s masks use distinctive leathers similar to those with which the Kent based company makes its saddles.

Filters are removable from the leather and synthetic suede styles for washing. Spare filters are available; washing is advised after four hours’ wear.

The sports masks – which are machine washable in one piece - are shaped to prevent them clinging to the mouth.

All styles are secured by soft friction ties for security and comfort. There are three adult sizes.

Bulk discounts are available to the trade on the sports and synthetic suede products.
