Anya Dewey Clarke and Jim soar to victory.

Daring performance clinches the title.

Anya Dewey Clarke and Jim enter Hickstead’s international arena for the prize-giving as proud mum Anna waits at the gate armed with Jim’s favourite Polos.

Anya Dewey Clarke, the nine-year-old daughter of Battles’ directors Richard and Anna Dewey Clarke, soared to victory at last week’s Royal International Horse Show.

Riding her pony Jim in the international arena, Anya pulled off some daring turns to win the jump-off for the 128cm show jumping championship.

During Anya’s rounds, her mother Anna stood nervously in the famous arena entrance, Polos at the ready to reward Jim with his favourite treat.

Anya is truly dedicated, looking after her ponies herself and earning herself a reputation as an accomplished, sympathetic rider.

She’s definitely one to watch – not least for her winning smile.

All smiles on their lap of honour.
