“DON’T FACE THE INCOMING HEADWINDS ALONE”

Support is at hand as a tough year unfolds, says ETN.

As businesses buckle-up for a bumpy year ahead, British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) membership will be more valuable than ever.

Our industry’s trade body is more open, friendly and accessible than is sometimes realised, writes ETN editor Liz Benwell

Indeed, as was proven during the Covid crisis, belonging to BETA provides a commercial and personal safety net for equestrian business people at turbulent times.

BETA primarily represents equestrian retailers, distributors and manufacturers of all shapes and sizes.

Associate membership is open (on approval) to all businesses within the equestrian sector from IT specialists to equine therapists, consultants and agents to transport and livery providers.

For a modest subscription, it’s well worth joining if only for all the business information BETA pumps out, often overnight after significant events such as the Budget or new legislation.

Members are often first to hear about grants or export initiatives. They are privy to first-hand intelligence from other industry and sporting bodies too.

BETA runs topical training courses online and in-person with ‘mates-rates’ for members. Other benefits range from discounts on business services to legal advice.

But it’s the networking events, such as the BETA Conference and BETA-organised trips and visits, that many members – new and long-standing – find most inspiring.

Clearly, commercial opportunities always spring up at these events; while there’s nothing like chatting (and off-loading) to like-minded people.

It’s already shaping up to be a tough year for businesses; so perhaps a small investment in joining an organisation that’s genuinely working on your behalf will be money well spent?

Businesses in the BETA family won’t be facing the incoming headwinds alone.
