“IT’S A LONG WAY BUT WE’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE CHALLENGE”

Each mile represents a year since company was founded.

First thing Saturday morning (15 June), an intrepid group from Westgate Labs will set out to walk 25 miles in one day.

The Westgate Labs team has been training hard for Saturday’s 25-mile walk. The pony is World Horse Welfare Quartz, recently rehomed by finance manager Sarah Ince.

The marathon hike has the joint purpose of celebrating the parasite control specialist’s 25th anniversary and raising funds for World Horse Welfare.

The Westgate Labs team plans to trek from castle to castle; Bamburgh in the north, down the beautiful Northumbrian coastline to Warkworth. It’s expected to take them around 11 hours.

“It's a long way but we've all trained hard and we're looking forward to the challenge,” said Claire Shand, marketing director.

“When the going gets tough, we've only to remember our pledge and the donations that rest on it to keep our motivation up.”

Westgate Labs has been working with World Horse Welfare for a number of years, providing free worm egg counts, weight tapes, information and education around parasite control.

“When we first mooted the idea of a crazy challenge to celebrate our 25th birthday, it was a no brainer to do it as a fundraiser for this special charity,” added Claire.
