“Our initial batches have already sold out.”
The RACE brand name – for years associated with RACE Leather Dressing - has been acquired by a new company called Exton Equine Essentials.
Directors Laura Bradley and Chantelle Jenkins say they are planning more branded products to join their leather care collection.

RACE Leather Dressing was originally created in the 1980s by Newbury based master saddler Clair Whiston. The name was inspired by her love of riding out for a local racing yard.
The product went on to become a big seller, especially within the racing and hunting markets.
When Clair was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2020, Ian Compton of Hampshire retailer Calcutts & Sons was asked to retrieve her ingredients and boiler and continue making RACE Leather Dressing.
After Calcutts & Sons closed last year, Laura Bradley – who’d been “a very satisfied customer” - approached Ian about taking over the brand and production.
Now, Exton Equine Essentials is supplying RACE Leather Care to the trade in 500ml tubs and 3 litre buckets.
“We firmly believe that our product is the superior offering on the market,” says Laura.
“We have already produced our initial three batches, which have been sold out in a timely manner.”
