Yesterday’s launch highlights evolution, tradition – and a sprinkle of equine royalty.
Dodson & Horrell introduced a new-look logo yesterday (18 February).
Based on its famous D&H initials, the design combines the Lea family’s oat milling heritage and Dodson & Horrell’s innovation in equine nutrition.

Dodson & Horrell’s new logo represents nutritional innovative, oat milling heritage and equine royalty.
Linda Porter, managing director of Dodson & Horrell, told ETN that the new logo reflects the brand’s evolution.
“Nestled in the centre of the new logo is the horse, who is at the heart of everything that D&H does.
“Atop the horse sits an oat crown which represents both the premium quality and reputation of the brand and the importance of oats to the horse.
“Oats are still a recognised healthy source of energy, as well as being part of the heritage of HJ Lea Oakes and the Lea family, who have owned D&H since 2020,” she said.
Oat milling heritage
The Lea family has milled oats since 1675, making them one of the oldest surviving family-owned and run companies in the UK.
The current managing director of HJ Lea Oakes, Edward Lea - who represents the fifteenth generation, is committed to the growth and development of D&H, added Linda.
“As one of only a handful of independent British owned millers, they are extremely proud of making their products in the UK.”
HJ Lea Oakes owns a dedicated horse feed mill that manufactures under the BETA NOPS Scheme.
Horses wear the crown
D&H is the nutritional partner to the British Equestrian Teams and Stallion AI Services. Laura Collett, Richard Davison, Tom McEwen, Zara Tindall, Jack Whitaker and John Whitaker choose D&H for their horses.
“It is, however, the horse that is the real equine royalty and horses of all disciplines enjoy D&H daily,” said Linda.
Some of those happy and healthy horses that are fed D&H are JL Dublin, Kitty’s Light, London 52 and Iggy Pop, to name but a few - and it is with pride that both the brand and all these horses wear the crown featured in the new logo.”
