All ages can enter.

Abbey England has opened applications for its annual scholarship.

The wholesaler and supplier of leather and workshop tools runs the scheme to encourage and support leatherworkers’ and crafters’ development.

Now in its seventh year, the Abbey England Scholarship welcomes submissions from anywhere in the world and people of all ages.

Last year’s Abbey England Scholarship winner Lauren Broxton says the award is “an incredible accolade.”

The winner will receive £500 worth of Abbey England leathers and tools, plus expert business support. An additional £200 will be awarded to cover expenses to attend training courses and workshops.

There will also be a place for the successful applicant on a workshop hosted by leatherworking guru and YouTube star Jo Heard in December.

Applicants are required to submit no more than 500 words about why they should be considered, with a photo of their work. Entries close on 31 October, 2024.

Last year’s Abbey England Scholarship winner, fashion designer Lauren Broxton, said: “Winning the scholarship is an incredible accolade to include with my credentials.”

Abbey England’s CEO Richard Brown will be judging this year’s entries.

“Our scholarship programme has been designed not only to help out financially, but also provide expert advice to help artisan makers take their careers to the next level,” he said.

“We are always so inspired by the entries we receive, and how passionate entrants are in keeping alive heritage skills in new and exciting ways.”
